The Running Of The Bulltards

10/27/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Tue, 27 Oct 2026 14:34:57 GMT

We’re about to do some work on the database that could only be done during market hours with live data and some of the things we’re implementing so I had to get this recap out to you early. There will be no trades logged from around 11 EST until around 1 EST maybe a little earlier. Sorry for the inconvenience but there’s some things that have to be done during market hours.

The SPY has rejected a move over the 50 day so far today, lots of time left in the session but we’re stuck in this range between the 50 and 100 day. We have a big week ahead with the fed meeting the next 2 days and mega cap earnings starting tomorrow with Microsoft and Google. Visa today should be a good read on how consumers are doing. There isn’t much to say until we get out of this 6 month range, if great earnings from all these names including the megacaps this week don’t do it, it might be a little while until we have the catalysts in place for that move.

10/26/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Mon, 26 Oct 2026 15:05:07 GMT

The SPY is languishing here right over the 100 day after this tiny gap up on the release of the Anthropic S-1. This market needs a catalyst, we’ve been rangebound for 5 months and this week is our last opportunity to have a big one with most of the megacaps reporting and guiding. If they disappoint, I wouldn’t be shocked if end up heading lower to test that rising 200 day just below 730 now. If they appease investors, we can easily make new highs but I’m not sure how they can make anyone happy when they’re all going to guide to raising capex and lowering FCF. Nothing good happens when the market is below the 50 day and realistically if you want to avoid pain you’d just sit aside until it is reclaimed. Right here you’re betting we’re going to recover but it’s much easier to stay out of tech names until we’re back trending over the 50 day because we can easily just fall off a cliff here and you won’t miss much by just waiting. You see my positioning, I have short puts on tech much lower but my commons I’m in no tech names at the moment.

Database Update

I sent out a note midday Saturday here when we released the first update to the discover tool you can find in the database. I go over all the functionality but now when you open up the database you will see the highest hit rates from today’s flow. Again in future updates we’re going to give you the ability to filter however you’d like based on historical vix, trades you want, etc but it is alot of data we are backfilling and testing. This first update is giving you the best setups filtered by hit rate over the past 90 days. You can see that in the “this setups record” column. You can click that and see all similar setups and how they worked by clicking the numbers. We set a default rate of +30% because we want to show names that hit that at one point during the life of the trade. Remember you can always put your trade on just below all these players and increase your probability of success. I’m sure there will be some bugs here at first but just let us know if you see something and we will get to it right away.

So for example let’s say you click on the SOXL put sale today and it shows 45 of 45 with the same up hit

The first name at the top is FIGR you could click that #144898 next to it to see the life of that particular trade as seen below. So we’ve got every name I’ve logged over the years tracked from start to finish and now we’re trying to give you the ability to predict how new incoming trades are going to play out based on historical data. It’s exciting because this hasn’t been done before and we’re really in uncharted waters here of what we’re trying to do with all this data. So enjoy the first update and know we have lots of things we’re testing to open up this tool in the months ahead giving you the ability to really filter as deep as you would like.

Discover Tool Update #1

James Bulltard — Sat, 24 Oct 2026 20:00:09 GMT

One of the things I promised you two weeks ago when we launched the discover tab was it would be a long term work in progress adding all my desired functionality to it. Being the first of its kind tool out there getting it right isn’t easy because we have no basis to work off of. It’s one thing to have options data, many do, and it is a whole different thing to make it function in harmony delivering data in a dynamic matter. Today we’re releasing the first update which lets you apply the data in the discover tool to every new incoming trade to see which setups worked the best. For now we’re focusing only on the highest probability trades based on historical data and we will eventually roll out the ability for you to filter however you would like based on various timeframes, setups, etc. For those of you in the live with the live tape on your database we have some even more special stuff to roll out to you in the near future but for now this is for everyone and it’s a game changer.

Daily Chart: two new signals, live for all users

Strong recent record - a new card under Flow Signals Today.

Every print on the day’s tape is filed the way Discover files it (setup · days to expiry · premium size · how far the strike was from the stock). If that exact setup has hit +30% within 30 days at least 60% of the time over the last 90 days, the print is listed, with the setup’s record (”24 of 24 hit +30%”) and the ticker’s own record in that setup beside it. Click a setup to see the trades behind it; click the ticker’s count to see that ticker’s.

Also on the Scanner today - inside Flow Signals Today. Tickers that appeared in the scanner’s ratings section today and also had institutional flow, with the scanner’s rating, score and rank and the day’s prints on each. Two independent signals agreeing on one name.

Markers in the three columns - so you can spot these without scrolling by looking for the emojis as marked in the image below:

• the print’s setup has the record above is the bag of money emoji

• the setup AND this ticker both have it is the money face emoji

• the scanner rated the ticker today is the bullseye emoji

A legend sits above the columns. How to read the record: “+30%” is the trade’s best moment inside the window, not where it finished. For a sold put it means the put is worth 30% less than it was sold for at some point. These are past results over the last 90 days, not predictions, and a ticker’s own count is usually a handful of trades. Trade at your own risk.

You can see AAPL and RBRK on the scanner friday below.

Again this was the first of many updates we’re going to release with this data. If you have other ideas I’m always up for hearing what you want to see but the overall focus is here is looking for unusual data and trying to improve how we guess what to play as best as possible. Did any of you catch that CART trade I logged 15 minutes before the close yesterday?

Within minutes of that trade, Instacart announced they were seeking a buyout and popped over 10%. Literally one of the most egregious trades I’ve ever seen. How do I better highlight stuff like this in the future? I don’t know but this game is always trying new things and figuring out how to improve your process.

Have a great weekend and I will see you monday

10/23/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Fri, 23 Oct 2026 15:26:50 GMT

The SPY is sitting ontop of the 100 day right now for the second time since the ceasefire in April. The move down we got in September stopped right at the 100 day, if we lose this level the door is wide open for a move to the 200 day way down below 730. Next week is make or break for the market with all the megacaps outside of Nvidia reporting. Either those save the day or the market is going lower. Oil is over 102 on the December contract and the vix is now over 20. This entire week has been a mess since the QQQ broke down last week. These periods of weakness are nothing new, this year has been a complete mess since the war, we’re lower right now than we were on June 2. That hasn’t happened many times in recent history where we’re so used to markets going up, but this has been a horrible 5 months underneath the surface. This doesn’t happen often and we needed it after the euphoria we saw in some of these ai names a few months back. These periods are all about surviving and being ready for the next uptrend whenever it begins.

The SMH, below, is about to hit the 200 day for the first time since the Trump tariff breakdown the market had in April 2025. Impressive run of 18 months over the 200 day for the most important segment of the market. The speed of this move caught most off guard, 14 sessions to a 15% decline but right here if this 200 day doesn’t hold just under 520, the breakdown will become prolonged. If we can quickly bounce here, it will be just have been a shaking of the tree making weak longs panic sell.

10/22/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Thu, 22 Oct 2026 15:03:00 GMT

The SPY gapped down under the 50 day again as we remain stuck inside this massive candle from friday. The market hated what Meta had to say about its financial situation and how much cash they may potentially need to raise. These ai numbers are getting eye watering and investors are rightfully pushing back on the endless optimism. All in all nothing too material, as I said Saturday, tech stocks simply broke down. When you lose a 6 month uptrend on the Nasdaq, weakness is going to persist that is all we are seeing. This market continues to chop everyone up in both directions as we cannot exit this range. The NQ is down over 700 points right now and the vix is up 15%, this is a complete disaster what is happening in the tech trade.

Here is the QQQ chart I posted on the weekend and as you can see below we’re simply just continuing that weakness. I will have the closer look beneath that and you can see the QQQ is below the 100 day now and honestly a move to touch that 200 day wouldn’t shock me here. That is usually where markets bottom or things are getting much worse. There are so many other places to play in the market but everyone wants to be in tech stocks, the issue right now is tech stocks just aren’t where you want to be. The technical damage is immense here and it isn’t going to be an easy fix.

10/21/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Wed, 21 Oct 2026 15:04:16 GMT

The SPY gapped up over all the moving averages following the monster guidance from SpaceX yesterday. The problem we have right now is we’ve gone nowhere in so long that all our moving averages are bunched together. The 100 day is 1.5% away from the 8 day and one day you’re breaking down and the next you’re breaking out. It’s really hard to have a feel when you remain rangebound and have all the other mag 7 names left to report starting with Meta today. If we’re going higher we need Meta to not surprise with some big miss or a big raise this afternoon. Oil is cooling off a tad and the vix is back to 17 so we have the environment where tech can go up with a strong guide from Meta but realistically we’ve done nothing since friday and the past 3 days are all contained within Friday’s candle. Until we move above or below that candle we are just range bound.

10/20/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Tue, 20 Oct 2026 14:36:40 GMT

The SPY is trying to push back over the key moving averages today after a rejection and close below the 50 day yesterday. We just had a terrible housing number with pending home sales down 7% from August and 11% year over year. These high rates are starting to cause havoc and oil keeps pressing higher today with November crude hitting $110 before cooling off a tad. As long as oil is going to sustain high prices, these high rates are here to stay and if today’s housing number was a sign of what is to come, we have big problems coming if we can’t get some peace deals. The good news for stock longs is bad news economically means we can start discussing rate cuts eventually. We also get our first big tech reports today with SpaceX and Netflix. The SpaceX report in particular can really lift the market if they give some strong guidance on their chip spend for next year. Overall, we’re in the same range we’ve been in since June 1, we’re 1% higher today than we were then.

10/19/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Mon, 19 Oct 2026 15:18:56 GMT

The SPY gapped up huge overnight but has been rejected so far by the 50 day as you can see below. We got our umpteenth “Iran deal” headline this morning and that combined with some short covering is the move we got. We’ll have to see what comes from this rumored Iran deal but oil is still over 101 so it isn’t exactly buying the rumor. Earnings season kicks off this week with some big ones from Meta,Tesla, and SpaceX giving us that read into the ai trade that everyone has been waiting for. Other names reporting this week that will have a big read for the trade are BE, LRCX, TXN, IBM, and WDC all on Wednesday and Thursday. So super busy week to possibly change narratives but right now the overall market looks like a deadbeat bounce unless we can start pushing through all these moving averages and close higher.

Tech Stocks Finally Broke Down

James Bulltard — Sat, 17 Oct 2026 14:51:13 GMT

The QQQ finally lost its uptrend this week. Going back to the war lows we had sustained this uptrend going back 6 months. This week, after multiple tests, we lost the trend. We had a huge rally on Thursday which tested the underside and then we reversed on friday. Does this mean doom? For the market, no, for tech stocks it means there will be weakness a…

10/16/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Fri, 16 Oct 2026 15:06:09 GMT

The SPY is sandwiched between the 8 and 21 right now in no man’s land as the overall market looks ok with the weakness mostly contained to tech, specifically semis. We’ve seen a nasty unwind the last 2 weeks in semis as Anthropic disappointed a bit with their recent number release. The vix was over 17 yesterday and cooled off a tad going back under 16 and oil is red today. Everything is really looking ok as long as you aren’t super heavy in the ai trade.

The SMH, below, looks like it may be headed for its first date with the 200 day in 18 months soon if it doesn’t turn around. If earnings season starting next week doesn’t go well this is certainly headed there but right now you’re looking at a 15% move down in 9 sessions on our most important sector as far as the market is concerned. It has completely reversed the move up that began in mid September. Nvda has gone from red to green in today’s session so that is a help but now you have the 8 and 21 sloping down that are going to be resistance overhead.

MGA - I added 10,000 shares of 67.36 and I sold 100 of the $75 calls in November for .79. I logged a trade here for the first time in almost a year today. I will highlight below but the chart looks nice and the call was way out of the money. I’m going to take a shot that’s about it, this is an $18b car part manufacturer with a dividend, it isn’t junk, just an odd trade to log in my opinion so I followed it.
KMI - I sold 1000 of the December $30 puts for .27 following a player that sold thousands for .28 today
USAR - I sold 1000 puts at $8 yesterday afternoon for .31. This is a name the US government has a stake in at much higher levels.

10/15/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Thu, 15 Oct 2026 15:28:32 GMT

The SPY gapped down under the 50 day and has since recovered, we haven’t closed below there since September 16th. Now we have the 100 day as support right below 760. The numbers from Anthropic yesterday were not enough to satisfy investors and the Kospi got slammed overnight with Korea’s market down over 7.5%. These are some crazy moves coming out of Korea, if the Nasdaq was down 7.5% on a random Thursday people would lose their minds. The Kospi is down 17% in the last month while the Nasdaq is up 2% but that Kospi move is decimating the ai names. NVDA,AMD, INTC are all down huge today look at names like Samsung down 10%! We have some major question marks in the ai trade for the umpteenth time and I’m sure we’ll hear soon that someone big blew up again between yesterday and today. Now bulls need a quick move up before these moving averages begin to slope down and really cause issues. Other than that, oil is up over 96 now and the vix is at 17.50 both are not ideal for equity bulls.

Look we’re in a market where narratives are changing daily regarding our biggest trade, ai. This volatility is just chaotic. If you’ve had a great year, dialing back your risk or stepping aside for a few weeks and watching what happens unfold isn’t the worst idea. We have more chaos in the Middle East with Yemen bombing Saudi Arabia daily, we have Russia and Ukraine seemingly ramping their war to levels they hadn’t in 4 years, and now it appears we have a fairly high likelihood of the US going back to war with Iran once midterms pass as they keep sinking ships in Hormuz. Those 3 events alone are going to have serious implications for the oil market and negatively for equities if they ramp from here and again, odds favor that. The one thing markets hate is uncertainty so now until these questions clear up, you’re just going to have weakness. There’s obviously always something to trade but most people are in these ai names and right now just doesn’t look like the time for them unless your time horizon is months.

10/14/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Wed, 14 Oct 2026 15:22:39 GMT

The SPY gapped down under the 8 ema for the first time in 9 sessions today on a hot inflation print. CPI came in higher than the expect 3.6% and we’re back to discussing even more rate hikes now. CRWV had some pretty damning news come out today which rocked the entire ai spectrum. I don’t really know what to think because NVDA owns such a massive chunk of CRWV which many seem to think is structurally bankrupt. You have to believe NVDA wouldn’t waste time with such a thing but who knows anymore. Rates have been the story all year as they continue to move higher, oil is green today and over $95 as we have major issues stemming from Iran,Ukraine, and Russia at the moment. We’ve been dealing with this mess for months and I’ll be honest I really don’t see either of the wars ending anytime soon. The Russia/Ukraine side of things seems to be ramping now with strikes on oil infrastructure now and as for Iran, Trump seems to be delaying until midterms pass in 3 weeks but that seems likely to escalate to. I would venture to guess the next few months are going to be very difficult in the market if you’re buying short term premium as we continue to flip flop narratives daily.

Luckily, there are still ways to profit in flat markets and that is selling puts. Just remember every single name is a buy somewhere on a chart. The put sales I log everyday are institutions showing you where they are buyers. We’re close to having the discover tool score incoming trades and I told you it would be here likely in a week or so. The discover tool currently shows you on the default setting that the highest probability trades in the recap everyday are the put sales and I think it really is best until further notice to just focus on those because you cannot buy calls in a tape this choppy, we can’t seem to sustain any move up.

A perfect example is CRWV below down 14% today to $67. Below are all the put sales this week, notice how they’re all at $60 and lower. These are sophisticated buyers showing you where they want to long this stock like that massive 14,000 block of puts sold at 60 on 10/8 when the stock was $81.58. They sold puts at 60 and are ok taking on 1.4M shares at 60 which is still 10% lower than today. Again in 4.5 years of data you can backtest over 80% of these put sales expire worthless for a max profit.

The SPY continues to flag over the 8 ema in a bullish consolidation. Overnight the Kospi was down 5.5% weighing on our tech names. They are getting margin calls in Korea seemingly every single night recently and while it did flush our ai names overnight, many have been bid up to green in today’s session. The overall market looks fine here as we’re just trending over all the short term moving averages. If you’re questioning yourself and wondering why the market feels so painful, this post below from Martin Pelletier today should give you more context on the brutality of a market sitting basically at all time highs where 89% of names down over 10% off highs from early June. This has been a really unique year where the market is at highs but most names are struggling.

10/12/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Mon, 12 Oct 2026 15:12:28 GMT

The SPY is actually fine right now, it’s over all the short term moving averages and barely off highs. Today the issue is most of the ai trade is getting throttled because the Kospi was down nearly 4% overnight. This whole year has been tough with us waiting overnight hoping for the Korean market to not implode and unfortunately it has had some violent moves this year. While the Kospi is up nearly 50% YTD the swings are what have been tough, the Nasdaq has had only 2 days this year where it had a 3% or more down move, with only 1 close there. The Kospi just had it’s 11th move of 3% down last night and unfortunately if you’re long any of these ai names you’re needing stability from a market that is recently not providing any.

The issue right now is oil up 2% today, below, after the Russia/Ukraine agreement to not attack oil infrastructure. Oil looks like it wants to go on a herculean run. Trump and Bessent have done all they could with multiple attempts to suppress oil all year but it keeps having failed breakdowns which is not good. Right now it is curling up again, momentum is about to flip positive, and it looks like barring some peace deal with Iran it is about to go on a run that could really impact midterms in a few weeks.

10/8/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Thu, 08 Oct 2026 15:19:44 GMT

The SPY gapped down overnight as oil rose on the rumors from Axios that Trump was preparing to restart the war in Iran. I think it is too early to get much from that just looking at the charts. We’re over all the key moving averages and have not even violated the 8 day yet. If we do restart the war the market will not be happy and if you believe oil, up 5% today, then it really may be time to start reducing leverage and taking positions off. I have a hard time believing he would start anything before midterms in early November as that would be super unpopular with voters but again oil is up 5% today so the toughest market we’ve faced in years continues to be tough, what’s new. The Kospi being down nearly 3% overnight also didn’t help after Samsung missed earnings which put pressure on alot of our ai names. Overall we look fine for the time being, I'd start to worry when we lose that 21 ema right around 770.

I always tell you all to focus on the put sales in the data here everyday, they’re the most valuable ones in my opinion and look at the massive CMG put sales I flagged 2 days ago. This morning Chipotle had a rumored takeover by Starbucks and up 6%. Whoever sold those 100,000 puts on monday and Tuesday certainly did well. I still think this piece here is the most important one you can read before diving into this data. Trades are about probabilities and the tool I’m dropping Saturday is going to help alot but the put sales here work at an over 80% clip, focus on those, I know buying calls is fun, but the put selling side of things has a much higher rate of success.

10/7/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Wed, 07 Oct 2026 15:07:02 GMT

The SPY broke out yesterday but instantly gapped back down today which could be construed as a false breakout but it may very well have just been a gap fill before continuation. It’s hard to really say much with such little time today before I send the recap, we very well could close back at the highs. Let’s see where this candle goes but the issue right now is the continuation of rates with the 30 year at 5.7% and hitting levels it hasn’t seen in 20+ years. Rates are getting out of hand and it just weighing the market down as crazy as that sounds. We would be materially higher if rates weren’t rising by the day. We have a big earnings still to come from Samsung tomorrow and right now memory names need that to save the day because they’re getting hit hard. Overall we’re over all the key moving averages, the 8 and 21 ema are sloping up and bulls want today to just be a needed gap fill from yesterday’s gap up before marching forward towards 800.

Database Update

I have a pretty massive update coming this Saturday morning. It’s a tool we’ve been working on for months that is going to knock your socks off. Nothing like this exists on any options service out there and we have so much we’re going to expand on it in the coming weeks. I can’t go into detail just yet because lots of copycats out there, but the point I’m getting to is this is the last update on my list from when this big update began. When 2026 started I set out to turn the database from a static tool to the dynamic one you see now and this final tool is going to tie everything together in a way that will change everything for you. I’ve spent alot of money updating this database to where it is now. My team is currently 3 people on full time salaries, I’m paying thousands for API’s monthly for stock and option data, and even more for token costs for all these AI generated trade ideas you see in the database on every tricker. I’m going to be raising the price of this product, but not on existing users. Whatever price you signed up for you have forever. There’s people here from 2022 paying $19/mo for the database. I haven’t raised the price in over 3 years and I will never raise the price on existing users. I never wanted to raise the price but right now there are just massive running costs that I never incurred just 9 months ago. Aside from the database, just my book alone I feel like nobody does what I do sharing their book and I’ve done a fairly decent job returning over 1000% the last 4.5 years with every trade written up here.

The price will be hiked significantly on Saturday for all new users wanting the recaps and database, so if you want to be locked in forever at $99/mo or my yearly rate today I’m giving you a 3 day notice because after Saturday neither will be an option again. All I will say is this new tool is going to be a game changer in how you look at all this data and analyze what trades you want to place. I will have a longer post Saturday morning going over everything.

10/6/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Tue, 06 Oct 2026 14:50:37 GMT

The SPY just broke out to new highs clearing the 780 level for the first time today. We were in a really tight flag for months and while we had a few scary moments along the way, look back at the chart below, we never broke the 100 day, just one test of it. We had just 3 closes below the 50 day, yellow line, and that is where charts never lie to you. Obviously with each moving average that is lost, it is up to you as a trader to decide how much you want to lighten up but charts tell a story and it is your decision what to do with that information. Earnings season now is our next driver to potentially push us to 800, but this was a long time in the making today. NVDA breaking out the last few sessions was a big catalyst here as the markets largest component. There is still alot of time today we need to see where this candle closes on the daily and on friday but so far this is looking like a breakout.

You’ll notice I added back in the charts at the top of each page on the database today, if you don’t like the charts you can just click the show charts button at the top right in the flow history box. This was just to make your life easier so you can see daily/weekly charts alongside the flow but if you don’t like it you don’t have to see it.

The SPY remains in this incredibly tight flag over all the key moving averages. This needs to break this multi month trend of lower highs and push over 775 for us to really get some traction, we’re very close, just .5% away. We have earnings season kicking off in a week and the buildup is strong into it. Depending on how earnings season goes there is no reason we cannot see 800 on the SPY this year, the market is cheaper than its been in a long time right now on an earnings multiple at 19x. Oil is back under 90 and the vix below 16, the environment is ripe for that move up if we don’t get some escalation in Iran.

10/2/26 Recap

James Bulltard — Fri, 02 Oct 2026 15:10:48 GMT

The SPY gapped up nicely after the awful jobs number, we’re back in the bad news is good news era because it cause a tiny selloff in rates. What matters more is you can see this is still a series of lower highs going back to early August. We really need to get over 775 and close there for bulls to be in a good spot. If we turn lower from here, this was all just a meaningless bounce higher. Our next catalyst is earnings season kicking off in a few sessions with many of the big banks reporting on October 13th. We are simply still in this range we’ve been in for months, today’s move is immaterial. It is nice to see oil down hard, that is one bulls want to see more of. The biggest component in our markets NVDA just had its highest monthly close ever 2 days ago, that is not in any way bearish but we have to breakout of this range before we can get a nice run until then it is just a constant shuffling of names within this range.

AMD being here is nice to see, that aligns with it being the 3rd most bought name in the database this past week, that doesn’t happen often where you have a top name lining up with the momentum scan.
